01Custom software development

Your idea. Engineered into reality.

Web applications, client portals, dashboards and SaaS MVPs, planned around the problem you’re solving and built to keep working as your business grows.

What we build

Software for the problems spreadsheets and off-the-shelf apps can’t solve.

Web applications

Software your team or customers sign into.

Accounts and permissions, your data organized the way your business thinks about it, and the workflows that actually matter, in the browser on any device.

  • Accounts & roles
  • Records & search
  • Workflows
  • Notifications
SaaS MVPs

The first version of your product.

The smallest version real people can sign up for and use, so you learn from the market instead of guessing.

Client portals

A private place for your customers.

Project status, documents, requests and history in one login, instead of a thread of emails asking for updates.

Internal dashboards

The numbers you check, in one place.

Pulled automatically from the tools you already use, so decisions don’t wait on someone updating a spreadsheet.

Admin systems

Back-office work, organized.

Scheduling, approvals, orders, inventory or intake: the jobs that live in spreadsheets and inboxes today.

Modernization

Replacing the tool you’ve outgrown.

Moving data out of spreadsheets or an aging system into software your team can rely on, extending what works and retiring what doesn’t.

  • Data migration
  • Rebuilds
  • New features
  • Integrations
API-connected platforms

Software that talks to your other software.

Payments, messaging, CRM and data from other services, connected properly from day one.

How a software project runs

From a rough idea to software people use every day.

  1. 01

    Scope

We define the problem, who will use the software, and the smallest version worth building. You get a written scope before development starts.

  2. 02

    Plan

Data, user roles, integrations and hosting are decided up front, so the build doesn’t stall on surprises halfway through.

  3. 03

    Design

Key screens are designed and reviewed with you before they’re coded, so changes are cheap and the flow makes sense.

  4. 04

    Build & test

Built in stages, with working versions you can try along the way and automated tests on the parts that matter most.

  5. 05

    Launch & support

We deploy to reliable hosting, document how it all works, and stay available for fixes and new features.

Built by us

We run our own software platform.

Plate is a multi-tenant restaurant platform we designed, built and operate in production: accounts and roles, a menu and photo editor, website publishing with safeguards, customer messaging and subscription billing.

  • Postgres with row-level security, so each restaurant’s data stays separate
  • Server-side functions for publishing, billing and messaging, with secrets kept off the browser
  • An automated test suite that runs on every change

Questions

Before you start a software project.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

How long does a custom software project take?

It depends on scope. A focused tool or first product version is usually measured in weeks to a few months; larger platforms are best delivered in phases. You get a timeline with the written scope, before development starts, and it’s an estimate we’ll keep you updated on, not a promise made before we understand the work.

What happens during discovery?

A conversation, or a few, about how the work gets done today, who will use the software and what success looks like. The result is a written scope: what’s included, what isn’t, and what it costs.

Who owns the software when it’s finished?

Ownership, licensing and hosting are spelled out in your project agreement before any work begins, so there are no surprises later. Bring it up on the first call and we’ll walk you through it.

Can you work with our existing systems?

Usually. Most modern tools offer an API, webhooks or an export. We check what your systems actually allow during discovery, before anything is promised.

What about support after launch?

We stay available for fixes, improvements and new features. Ongoing support can be set up as a monthly arrangement or handled as needed.

Do you build mobile apps?

We build web applications that work well in a phone’s browser. We don’t currently build native iOS or Android apps for the app stores, and we’ll tell you if your project really needs one.
